רָכַל i.q. רָגַל to go about
(1) for purpose of traffic, i.q. סָחַר; hence to traffic. Part. רֹכֵל a merchant, Ezekiel 27:13, 15 Ezekiel 27:15, 17 Ezekiel 27:17, seqq.; fem. רֹכֶלֶת a female merchant, ibid. 3:20, 23. Hence the substantives רְכֻלָּה, מַרְכֹּלֶת.
(2) for the sake of slandering, whence רָכִיל slander.
