Now in the twelfth month (that is, the month Adar), on the thirteenth day, when the king's command and edict were to be put into effect, on the day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to gain the mastery over them, it turned out to the contrary so that the Jews themselves gained mastery over those who hated them.

The command of Esther established these customs for Purim, and it was written in the book.

"I have not failed the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.

"Is it at your command that the eagle flies high, And makes his nest on high?

You are my King, God; Command victories for Jacob.

The Lord gives the command; The women who proclaim good news are a great army:

He sends His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.

When He set a boundary for the sea So that the water would not violate His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth;

I say, "Keep the command of the king because of the oath before God.

One who keeps a royal command experiences no trouble, for a wise heart knows the proper time and procedure.

"I will lay it waste; It will not be pruned nor hoed, But briars and thorns will come up. I will also command the clouds not to rain on it."

He has stretched His hand out over the sea, He has made the kingdoms tremble; The LORD has given a command concerning Canaan to demolish its strongholds.

But they were silent and did not answer him so much as a word; for the king's command was, "Do not answer him."

But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am a youth,' Because everywhere I send you, you shall go, And all that I command you, you shall speak.

"Now, belt your garment around your waist and arise, and speak to them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed before them, or I will make you dismayed before them.

a wind too strong for this—will come at My command; now I will also pronounce judgments against them."

"For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them on the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices.

"But this is what I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you shall walk entirely in the way which I command you, so that it may go well for you.'

"They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the Valley of Ben-hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, and it did not come into My mind.

which I commanded your forefathers on the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, 'Listen to My voice, and do according to all that I command you; so you shall be My people, and I will be your God,'
