I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God."

Then the Jews, because it was the day of Preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

Now after these things Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. So he came and took away His body.

Therefore because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

And they *said to her, "Woman, why are you crying?" She *said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him."

Jesus *said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are those who did not see, and yet believed."

And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

He *said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus *said to him, "Tend My sheep.

And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language.

For David says of Him,‘I saw the Lord continually before me;Because He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.

Because You will not forsake my soul to Hades,Nor give Your Holy One over to see corruption.

And so, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to set one of the fruit of his body on his throne,

being greatly agitated because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

And when they had threatened them further, they let them go (finding no basis on which to punish them) on account of the people, because they were all glorifying God for what had happened;

Now in those days, while the disciples were multiplying in number, there was grumbling from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food.

And they were giving him attention because he had for a long time astounded them with his magic arts.

But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you supposed you could obtain the gift of God with money!

So then those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.

And when she recognized Peter's voice, because of her joy she did not open the gate. But she ran in and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.
