Because they had rebelled against the words of GodAnd spurned the counsel of the Most High.

Ignorant fools, because of their way of transgression,And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

Then they were glad because they were quiet,So He led them to their desired haven.

A fruitful land into a salt waste,Because of the evil of those who inhabited it.

Because he did not remember to show lovingkindness,But persecuted the afflicted, the needy man,And the disheartened to put them to death.

But as for You, O Yahweh, O Lord, deal with me for Your name's sake;Because Your lovingkindness is good, deliver me;

Not to us, O Yahweh, not to us,But to Your name give gloryBecause of Your lovingkindness, because of Your truth.

I love Yahweh, because He hearsMy voice and my supplications.

Because He has inclined His ear to me,So I shall call upon Him in all my days.

My soul weeps because of grief;Raise me up according to Your word.

Burning indignation has seized me because of the wicked,Who forsake Your law.

May those who fear You see me and be glad,Because I wait for Your word.

I perceive more than the aged,Because I have observed Your precepts.

Sustain me according to Your word, that I may live;And do not put me to shame because of my hope.

My eyes shed streams of water,Because they do not keep Your law.

My zeal has consumed me,Because my adversaries have forgotten Your words.

Seven times a day I praise You,Because of Your righteous judgments.

Because I called and you refused,I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention;

Because they hated knowledgeAnd did not choose the fear of Yahweh.

The destruction of the wicked will drag them away,Because they refuse to do justice.
