יִצְהָר (from the root צַהַר to shine, compare זָהָב No. 2), m.
(1) oil, especially fresh and new, Numbers 18:12; Deuteronomy 12:17, 14:23 2 Kings 18:32. It is often joined with תִּירוֹשׁ must, and it appears to differ from שֶׁמֶן, as תִּירוֹשׁ does from יַיִן. בְּנֵי הַיִּצְהָר sons of oil, i.e. anointed ones, Zechariah 4:14. Hence denom. הִצְהִיר [see צָהַר ].
(2) [Izhar], pr.n. of a son of Kohath, Exodus 6:18; Numbers 3:19. Patron. ends in ־ִי, Numbers 3:27.
