Hiph`il Infinitive לְהַבְזוֺת בַּעְלֵיהֶן Esther 1:17 so as to cause to despise their lords (cause their lords to be despised).
בָּזָה i.q. בּוּז to despise, to contemn, pr. to trample with the feet, see בּוּז, בּוּס. Constr. followed by an acc. Numbers 15:31; Psalms 22:25, 102:18 more rarely followed by לְ 2 Samuel 6:16, and (suitably to the etymology) עַל Nehemiah 2:19. Opp. to כִּבֵּד 1 Samuel 2:30. Proverbs 19:16, בּוֹזֶה דְרָכָיו “he who makes light of (i.e. neglects) his course of living.” Esther 3:6, וַיִּבֶז בְּעֵינָיו לְשַׁלַּח יָד “and he despised, to lay hand;” Psalms 73:20.
