(1)  an upper chamber, a loft on the roof of a house; ὑπερῷον, Söller, Erker. (Arabic عِلِّيَّةُ, عُلِّيَّةُ.) Judges 3:23, 25 Judges 3:25; 1 Kings 17:19, 23 1 Kings 17:23; 2 Kings 4:10. Poet. used of heaven, Psalms 104:3, 13 Psalms 104:13.

(2) a ladder, ascent by steps, by which one went up to the temple, 2 Chronicles 9:4.
