(1) a gift, Genesis 32:14, 19 Genesis 32:19, 21 Genesis 32:21, 43:11, 15 Genesis 43:15, 25 Genesis 43:25, 26 Genesis 43:26, etc.
(2) tribute, which was exacted from a tributary people under the milder name of a gift (Diod. i. 58), 2 Samuel 8:2, 2 Samuel 8:6; 1 Kings 5:1; 2 Kings 17:4; Psalms 72:10.
(3) a gift offered to a divinity, a sacrifice, Genesis 4:3,, specially a sacrifice without blood, opp. to זֶבַח a bloody sacrifice, Leviticus 2:1,,, 6:7, seq.; 7:9. Hence זֶבַח וּמִנְחָה, Psalms 40:7; Jeremiah 17:26; Daniel 9:27.
