Qal Perfect 3 plural מָהָ֑רוּ Psalm 16:4 usually obtain another in exchange (or, by paying a price, compare Che), but text dubious; Imperfect 3 masculine singular suffix+ Infinitive absolute מָהֹר יִמְהָרֶנָּה לוֺ לְאִשָּׁה Exodus 22:15 (E).
ַמהֲתַלּוֺת see תלל.
I. מו a paragogic syllable, attached to בְּ, כְּ, לְ (q. v.), so as to form with them independent words, בְּמוֺ, כְּמוֺ, לְמוֺ (q. v.) These forms, except sometimes כְּמוֺ, are exclusively poetical. In origin מוֺ is identical with מָה what, Arabic , which is used similarly, pleonastically, with certain prefixes, e.g. , , . See Qor 3:153; 71:25; Fl Kl. Schr. i. 473f., 479,558; W AG ii. § 70, Rem. f; SG 126f.; Kö ii. 250f.; and compare Ethiopic , Syriac , Sabean בנמו = , DHM ZDMG 1883,396f., Hom Chrest. § 18.
מָהַר
(1) to hasten, in Kal once, Psalms 16:4.
(2) to be quick, skilful in any art or business. Arab. مهر to be diligent, acute-minded, see Pi. No. 2, and מָהִיר.
Piel מִהַר
(1) to hasten
(a) to quicken, Isaiah 5:19, to bring quickly. Genesis 18:6, מַהֲרִי שְׁלשׁ סְאִים קֶמַח “bring quickly three seahs of flour;” 1 Kings 22:9.
(b) followed by a finite verb, either with or without the copula, to do any thing quickly, where, in the western languages, the adverb quickly, speedily, would be used, 1 Samuel 17:48; Genesis 19:22, מַהֵר הִמָּלֵט “make haste, escape,” i.q. escape quickly, followed by an infinitive or gerund, Exodus 10:16; Genesis 27:20, מַה־זֶּה מִהַרְתָּ לִמְצאֹ “how then hast thou found it so quickly?” Exodus 2:18. מַהֵר adv. quickly, Judges 2:17, 23 Judges 2:23; Psalms 79:8.
(2) to be prompt, apt in any thing, Isaiah 32:4.
Niphal נִמְהַר properly to be precipitate. Job 5:13, עֲצַת נִפְתָּלִים נִמְהָֽרָה “the counsel of the cunning is headlong,” i.e. being hastily executed it is frustrated. Part. נִמְהַר
(1) headlong, rash, Isaiah 63:4.
(2) impetuous, rushing on precipitately; Germ. ungeftüm, Habakkuk 1:6.
(3) timid, precipitate in flight, Isaiah 35:4.

II.
מָהַר to buy, specially a wife, for a price paid to the parents (מֹהַר). Kindred verbs are מוּר which see, and with ה hardened מָחַר, מָכַר, Exodus 22:15.
