(1) loin, flank, Job 15:27. Plural כְּסָלִים the internal muscles of the loins, near the kidneys, to which the fat adheres, ψόαι, ψοῖαι, as rightly rendered by Symmachus. Leviticus 3:4, 10, 15 4:9 7:4 Job 15:27, וַיַעַשׁ פִּימָה עֲלֵי כֶסֶל “and (because) he made (i.e. produced) fat upon his loins,” fattened himself, γαστρίδουλος. Hence the bowels, the inward parts, Psalms 38:8. Compare Bochart, Hieroz. tom. i. p. 506, seq.
