Qal Perfect 3 plural חָֽרְבוּ Genesis 8:13 (twice in verse), Isaiah 19:6; Imperfect 3 masculine singular יֶחֱרַב Hosea 13:15 2t., וַיֶּחֱרָ֑ב Psalm 106:9; Imperative feminine singular חֳרָ֑בִי Isaiah 44:27; — be dry, dried up:

1 of ground, be freed from waters of floodמְּנֵי חָאֲדָמָה ׳ח Genesis 8:13 b (J).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

חָרַב whence imp. חֲרֹב, and חָרֵב future יֶחֱרִב

(1)  to be dried up, spoken of water, rivers, earth. Genesis 8:13; Job 14:11 Isai. 19:6 Psalms 106:9. It differs [“as merely denoting the absence of water”] from יָבֵשׁ to be dry, to become dried, see Genesis 8:13, compare 14 also Isaiah 19:5, where there is a gradation, וְנָהָר יֶחֱרַב וְיָבֵשׁ. Compare Reimarus, De Differentia Vocc. Hebr. p. 64. (From the same stock is Gr. κάρφω to become dry, κράμβος dry.)

(2) to be desolate, to be laid waste, spoken of countries or cities, (dry places being desert, devoid of water, Isai. 42:15 48:21 ); Isai. 34:10 Jeremiah 26:9 of sanctuaries, Amos 7:9 also to be destroyed, wasted, spoken of a people, Isaiah 60:12 and trans. to lay waste, to destroy, Jeremiah 50:21. (Imp. חֲרֹב.)

(3) to be amazed, astonished, Jeremiah 2:12 compare the synonymous words שָׁמַם and שָׁעַר.
