1. dispatch, πρεσβευτάς Plb. 3.11.1; στρατηγόν D.S. 19.102; θεωρούς SIG 629.8 (Delph., ii B. C.); βιβλίον τινί Attal. ap. Hipparch. 1.3.3: — Pass., to be dispatched, Philipp. ap. D. 18.77, OGI 90.20 (Rosetta, ii B. C.); ὑπό τινων Vit.Philonid. p.7C.; ἐξαπεσταλμένοι μάχεσθαι Aristeas 13; also ἡμῶν ὁ λόγος-εστάλη Acts 13:26.
2. send forth, [ δαίμων] -στέλλων ὕδατα καὶ ἀνέμους Sammelb. 4324.16.
3. of prisoners, send before a tribunal, ἐ. τινὰ δέσμιον πρός τινας PTeb. 22.18 (ii B. C.), etc.: — Pass., PTaur. 1iii13 (ii B. C.).
II send away, dismiss, e.g. a prisoner, Plb. 4.84.3; ἐ. τινὰ κενόν send away empty-handed, Luke 1:53; divorce a wife, LXX Deuteronomy 24:4; expel, ἐκ τοῦ παραδείσον ib. Genesis 3:23.
III discharge a projectile, Hero Bel. 81.4 (Pass.). destroy, ὀχυρώματα ἐν πυρί LXX 2 Kings 8:12. emit, display, φαντασίαν Procl. Hyp. 5.72.
ἐξαποστέλλω; future ἐξαποστελῶ; 1 aorist ἐξαπέστειλα; (2 aorist passive ἐξαπεσταλην); the Sept. very often for שָׁלַח; properly, to send away from oneself (ἀπό) out of the place or out of doors (ἐκ (which see VI. 2));
1. to send forth: τινα, with commissions, Acts 7:12; (Acts 12:11); Galatians 4:4; followed by an infinitive of purpose, Acts 11:22 (but L T Tr WH omit the infinitive); εἰς ἔθνη, unto the Gentiles, Acts 22:21 (WH marginal reading ἀποστέλλω); used also of powers, influences things (see ἀποστέλλω, 1 a.): τήν ἐπαγγελίαν, the promised blessing, Luke 24:49 T Tr WH; τό πνεῦμα εἰς τάς καρδίας, to send forth i. e. impart the Spirit to our hearts, Galatians 4:6; (τό ... κήρυγμα τῆς αἰωνίου σωτηρίας, Mark 16 WH in (rejected) 'Shorter Conclusion'); ὑμῖν ὁ λόγος ... ἐξαπεστάλη, the message was sent forth, i. e. commanded to be announced, to you, Acts 13:26 L T Tr WH.
2. to send away: τινα εἰς etc. Acts 9:30; followed by an infinitive of purpose, Acts 17:14; τινα κενόν, Luke 1:53; Luke 20:10, 11. (Desm., Polybius, Diodorus.)

B.C. 175) ἐ ]ξαπ [ε ]σταλκὼς θεωρούς.
