(Strong's #5270 — Verb — hupokato — hoop-ok-at'-o )

an adverb signifying "under," is used as a preposition and rendered "under" in Mark 6:11; 7:28; Luke 8:16; Hebrews 2:8; Revelation 5:3,13; 6:9; 12:1; "underneath" in Matthew 22:44 , RV (Mark 12:36 in some mss.); John 1:50 , RV (AV, "under").

2: κατωτέρω

(Strong's #2736 — — katotero — kat'-o, kat-o-ter'-o )

the comparative degree of kato, "below, beneath," occurs in Matthew 2:16 , "under."

3: ἐλάσσων

(Strong's #1640 — Verb — elasson — el-as'-sone, el-at'-tone )

the neuter of the adjective elasson, "less," is used adverbially in 1 Timothy 5:9 , "under" (or "less than"). See LESS.

Notes: (1) The preposition epi, "upon," is rendered "under" in Hebrews 7:11; 9:15; 10:28 , AV (RV, "on the word of"). (2) The preposition en, "in," is rendered "under" in Matthew 7:6; Romans 3:19 (1st part). (3) The usual preposition is hupo.
