(1) to wash, the human body, Genesis 18:4, 43:31 Leviticus 14:9; Deuteronomy 21:6 meats, Exodus 29:17; Leviticus 1:9 metaph. the defilement of sin adhering to men, Isaiah 4:4. To wash the hands in innocency, i.e. to declare oneself innocent, Psalms 26:6, 73:13. It differs from בָּבַס to wash garments.
