Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

קְצָת (for קְצָאת, from קָצָה, of the form מְנָת, from מָנָה), a Chaldaizing word.

(1)  end. Always with pref. מִן; מִקְצָת for מִקְּצָת at the end. Daniel 1:15, מִקְצָת יָמִים עֲשָׂרָה “at the end often days.” Daniel 1:5, and verse 18, לְמִקְצָת הַיָּמִים “at the end of the days” (לְמִן, see p. 485, A ). Comp. Hebr. מִקֵּץ, מִקְצֵה for מִקְּצֵה Joshua 3:2.

(2) the sum, the whole number, i.q. קָצֶה, קָצָה No. 2. Daniel 1:2, מִקְצָת כְּלֵי בֵית־הָאֱלֹהִים “(a part) of the number of the holy vessels.” מִקְצָת is put in this place partitively, like מִן No. 1. Nehem. 7:70, מִקְצָת רָאשֵׁי הָאָבוֹת “(a part of) the number of the chiefs,” i.e. a part of the chiefs. Comp. מִקְצֵה אֶחָיו Genesis 47:2.-Some of these examples, Daniel 1:2, 18 Neh. loc. cit. have been referred by some to a noun, of the form מִקְצָת, to which they ascribe the signification of part. But the Chaldee, which is of special authority in these examples, is altogether destitute of such a form (the passage Genesis 47:2, Targ. is similar to the passages treated under No. 2); and it cannot be doubted that the phrase מִקְצָת, wherever it occurs, is to be explained in the Same manner.

קְצָת constr. קְצַת Chald.

(1)  end. Daniel 4:31, לִקְצַת יוֹמַיָּא “at the end of the days.”

(2) the sum, the whole. Daniel 2:42, מִן קְצָת מַלְכוּתָא “(a part) of the whole of the kingdom,” i.e. a part of the kingdom. To this answers מִנָּהּ part of it.
