שָׂגַב i.q. רוּם, but (except Deuteronomy 2:3) only found in poetry.

(1)  to lift oneself up (cogn. to the root גָּבַב, compare שָׂגָא i.q. גָּאָה), Job 5:11.

(2) to be lofty, of an inaccessible city, Deuteronomy 2:36.

Niphal, to be high, Proverbs 18:11. Figuratively

(a) to be most high, of God, Psalms 148:13; Isaiah 2:11.

(b) to be set in a high place; hence to be safely protected, Proverbs 18:10, compare מִשְׂגָּב.

(c) to be hard to be understood, Psalms 139:6.

Piel, to set on high, to exalt any one; always metaph.

(a) to make powerful, Isaiah 9:10.

(b) to protect safely, Psalms 20:2, 69:30 91:14 followed by מִן from an enemy (compare מִן No. 3, a), Psalms 59:2, 107:41.
