תִּדְהָר masc. the name of a tree which grows on Lebanon, Isaiah 41:19, 60:13. Vulg. ulmus, elm. Chald. מֻרְנְיָן i.e. a species of plane, which is called in Arab. ساج. I prefer the oak, the ilex, as the word properly denotes a firm enduring tree (compare תְּדִירָא), from the root דָּהַר No. 2. Compare Celsii Hierobot., t. ii. p. 271; and my Comment. on Isaiah 41:19.
