שְׁמַיִן emphat. שְׁמַיָּא Chald. id. Daniel 4:8, 10 7:2. Sometimes used for the inhabitants of heaven, i.e. God with the angels who govern the world [angels being only his ministers], Daniel 4:23 (compare as to this usage in Jewish writing and classical authors, Fesselii Advers. S. p. 349. Wetstein on Matthew 21:25). אֱלָהּ שְׁמַיָּא the God of heaven (see above Hebr.) Daniel 2:18, 37 Ezra 5:11, 12 Ezra 5:12, 6:9, 10 Ezra 6:10 comp. Tob_10:12 Revelation 11:13.
