רָבַב
(1) to become much or many, to be increased, Genesis 6:1 to be much or many, Psalms 3:2, 69:5 104:24 Isaiah 59:12, and frequently. It is only found in pret. and inf. רֹב; the other tenses are formed from the cognate verb רָבָה.
(2) Med. O. pret. רֹבּוּ Genesis 49:23, according to Kimchi and the Ven. Vers. prob. to shoot (either from the many arrows, or else the verb רבב, taking its signification from the verb רָמָה). Hence רַב No. 3, an arrow. Some also refer to this, Psalms 18:15, בְּרָקִים רַב “he shot out lightnings;” but see רַב No. 1.
Pual (denom. from רְבָבָה), part. to be multiplied into myriads, Psalms 144:13.
Derivatives, רַב, רַבָּה, רֹב, רְבָבָה, רִבּוֹ, רְבִיבִים and the pr.n. רַבִּית, יָרָֽבְעָם, רַבְשָׁקֵה.
