Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

רָהַב

(1) to rage, to be pierce; followed by בְּ to act fiercely against any one, Isaiah 3:5 (Syr. ܪܗܰܒ to rage; kindred to the roots רָהַף, רָעַם, and others beginning with רהּ, רע, רג see under רָגַז ). Hence to press upon, to urge on; followed by an acc., Proverbs 6:3, רְהַב רֵעֶיךָ “be urgent on thy friend.”

(2) to tremble, to fear, i.q. Arab. رَهِبَ Isaiah 60:5 (according to some copies), where it is joined with פָּחַד. The common reading is רָחַב.

Hiphil

(1) to render fierce, courageous, Psalms 138:3.
