עָכַר
(1) pr. i.q. Arab. عَكِرَ to disturb or trouble water; figuratively
(2) to afflict any one, Judges 11:35 often more strongly, i.q. to bring evil upon, Genesis 34:30; Joshua 6:18, 7:25. 1 Samuel 14:29, עָכַר אָבִי אֶת־הָאָרֶץ “my father troubleth the land,” 1 Kings 18:17, 18 1 Kings 18:18. Proverbs 11:17, עֹכֵר שְׁאֵרוֹ אַכְזָרִי “the cruel troubleth his own flesh,” verse 29 Proverbs 11:29.
