Hithpa`el Imperfect probably journey by stations, stages, only 1 singular אֶתְנַהֲלָה Genesis 33:14 (J), I will proceed, journey on, by stages (i.e. deliberately with family and cattle).

נָהַל a root not used in Kal, which appears to have had the signification of flowing and going; like the cogn. נָהַר No. 1; compare נַחַל river. Hence

(1) to lead, Exodus 15:13; 2 Chronicles 28:15, וַיְנַהֲלוּם בַּחֲמֹרִים “and they led them borne upon asses.” Specially to lead to water, Psalms 23:2, עַל־מֵי מְנוּחֹת יְנַהֲלֵנִי “he leadeth me beside the still water,” Psalms 31:4; Isaiah 49:10. Hence with the notion of care and protection (Isaiah 51:18)
(2) to guard, 2 Chronicles 32:22 (compare הֵנִיחַ 1 Chronicles 22:18); to provide for, to sustain, Genesis 47:17 compare כִּלְכֵּל verse 12 Genesis 47:12.
