מַשְׂטֵמָה f.
(1) a noose, a fetter, i.q. פַּח Hosea 9:8 from the root שָׂטַם, Syr. ܣܛܡ to bind, to fetter. Hence
(2) destruction, ibid. verse 7; compare מוֹקֵשׁ. Others render hatred, persecution; from שָׂטַם to pursue after.
