Hiph`il Imperfect 3 feminine singular: meaning dubious, perhaps beat the air, or flap the wings, compare Di De (and Wetzst in De), Bu Du (compare Arabic whip, urge on a horse ?); — תַּמְרִ֑יא תִּשְׂחָקלַסּוּם וּלְדֹבְבוֺ׃ Job 39:18 she (the ostrich) flaps away, she laughs at the horse and his rider.
II. מרא (√ of following, be fat; compare Assyrian marû III. causative, adjective marû, well-fed, fat; Arabic be digestible, agree with (of food)).
מָרָא i.q. מָרֵא مَرَى
(1) to lash a horse with a whip to quicken its speed (ftreichen, anpeitfchen), see Hiphil.
(2) to be contumacious, rebellious. Part. fem. מוֹרְאָה i.q. מוֹרָה rebel, Zephaniah 3:1.
Hiphil, once used of the ostrich rising from her nest, and by flapping her wings impelling herself on, as if with a whip. Job 39:18, כָּעֵת בַּמָּרוֹם תַּמְרִיא “now she lashes up herself on high.” Compare שׁוּט and שׁוֹט. The ancient versions, “lifts up herself, rises,” as if מָרָא were with the letters transposed, i.q. רָאַם = רוּם.
