מַחֲרֵשָׁה & מַחֲרֶשֶׁת f. 1 Samuel 13:20, two instruments merits of husbandry, both with edges, one of which perhaps denoted the ploughshare (from the root חָרַשׁ No. 3), the other the coulter. For the pl. of both מַחֲרֵשׁוֹת is used verse 21 1 Samuel 13:21. As to the form of ploughs in the East, see Paulsen, Ackerbau d.
