זִיו Chald. m. splendour, brightness (contracted from זְהִיו, from the root זָהָה which see, i.q. Hebr. זִו), Daniel 2:31, 4:33. The plural is used of the bright colour of the face. Daniel 5:6,, זִיוֹהִי שָׁנַיִן עֲלוֹהִי “his colour changed upon him,” i.e. he became pale, verse 10 7:28. Comp. the Hebr. chap. 10:8. (Syr. ܙܺܝܘܳܙ brightness. Arab. زِىُّ and زَىُّ ornament.)
