דֶּבֶר m. pl. דְּבָרִים (Hosea 13:14), prop. destruction, death, like the Arab. دَبْرُ (see the root No. 4, and Piel No. 3); hence a plague (compare מָוֶת No. 3), Exodus 9:3; Leviticus 26:25; Deuteronomy 28:21; 2 Samuel 24:13; 1 Kings 8:37, etc.; LXX. commonly θάνατος; compare Sir_39:29.
