Thayer's Expanded Definition

διαχωρίζω: to separate thoroughly or wholly (cf. διά, C. 2) (Aristophanes, Xenophon, Plato, others; the Sept.). Passive present διαχωρίζομαι ((in a reflexive sense) cf. ἀποχωρίζω) to separate oneself, depart, (Genesis 13:9, 11, 14; Diodorus 4, 53): ἀπό τίνος, Luke 9:33.

διαχωρίζω can be quoted from the literary ";LXX Memorial"; from Adrumetum (iii/A.D.)—.11 ὁρκίζω σε τὸν διαχωρίσαντα τοὺς εὐσεβεῖς, ";I adjure thee by him who separates the devout ones from the godless"; : see Deissmann BS, p. 275. Add from the iv/A.D. Leyden magic papyrus (ed. Dieterich, p. 817)—xv. 26 ποίησον τὸν (δεῖνα) διαχωρισθῆναι ἀπὸ τοῦ (δεῖνος).
