תּוֹרָה f. (from the root יָרָה Hiph. No. 4. to teach).

(1)  instruction, doctrine, Job 22:22.

(a) human, as that of parents, Proverbs 1:8, 3:1 4:2 7:2.

(b) divine through prophets, Isaiah 1:10, 8:16, 20 42:4, 21 Isaiah 42:21.

(2) law.

(a) human, the manner and principles which men follow, 2 Samuel 7:19.

(b) divine, whether one, followed by a genit. of the object, e.g. the law of sacrifice, Leviticus 6:7, 7:7 or collect. laws; סֵפֶר הַתּוֹרָה the book of the law, Joshua 1:8, 8:34 2 Ki. 22:8, 11 2 Kings 22:11; Nehemiah 8:3 plur. תּוֹרוֹת laws, Exodus 18:20; Leviticus 26:46.
