 [לוּט] verb wrap closely, tightly, enwrap, envelope (Arabic cleave, stick to a thing; also transitive make to stick, or adhere); —

Qal Perfect 3 masculine singular לָאט 2 Samuel 19:15 (so read, for ᵑ0לָאַט, We Klo Dr Bu); Participle active לוֺט Isaiah 25:7 (compare Kö i. 445); Passive participle feminine לוּטָה 1 Samuel 21:10; — לוּטָה בַשִּׂמְלָה 1 Samuel 21:10 it is wrapped up in a garment (of sword of Goliath); figurative of covering as sign of mourning, הַלּוֺטמְּנֵיהַֿלּוֺט עַלכָֿלהָֿעַמִּים Isaiah 25:7 the surface of covering which covereth over all the peoples ׅ "" (מַסֵּכָה הַנְּסוּכָה.

לוּט

(1) i.q. לָאַט, לָהַט No. II, to cover over, to hide, to wrap up. Part. acc. לוֹט hiding, Isaiah 25:7 and another form לָט intrans. hidden, secret; whence בַּלָּט secretly, Ruth 3:7; 1 Samuel 18:22, 24:5 once בַּלָּאט Judges 4:21. Part. pass. f. לוּטָה wrapped up, 1 Samuel 21:10.

(2) to do secretly. Part. pl. לָמִים secret arts, incantations, Exodus 7:22, 8:3, 14 instead of which there is לְהָמִים Exodus 7:11 see לַהַט.
