For the bad sense in which this forcible NT ἅπ. εἰρ. (Mark 15:46) is generally used, see Abbott as cited s.v. ἐντυλίσσω : cf. P Tebt I. 24.62 (B.C. 117) ἐνίων μὲν αὑτοὺς ἐνειληκότων οἰκονομ [ίαις κτλ., ";some have wormed themselves into the positions of oeconomus,"; etc., and P Ryl II. 144.18 (A.D. 38) ἐνειλούμενός ̣ μοι, of a violent struggle. On the other hand, the verb is colourless in P Oxy VIII. 1153.23 (i/A.D.) τῆς γινομέ (νης) συνθέσεως τὸ πρόσχρωμον ἐνείλικται τῇδε τῇ ἐπιστολῇ, ";a pattern of the colour of the dress that is being made is enclosed in tliis letter"; (Ed.).
