Qal Perfect 3 feminine singular חָֽנְפָה Isaiah 24:5; 3 plural חָנֵפ֑וּ Jeremiah 23:11; Imperfect 3 feminine singular תֶּחְֶנַף Jeremiah 3:1; תֱּהֶָנ֑ף Micah 4:11; וֵתֶּחֱנַף Jeremiah 3:9; Psalm 106:38; Infinitive absolute חָנוֺף Jeremiah 3:1; —

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

חָנֵף fut. יֶחֱנַף

(1)  to be profaned, polluted, defiled, Psalms 106:38; Isaiah 24:5.

(2) to be profane, impious, Jeremiah 23:11.

(3)  Jeremiah 3:9, causat. like Hiphil, to pollute, to make profane. (The origin uncertain.)

Hiphil, to profane a land. Numbers 35:33; Jeremiah 3:2 men, i.e. to lead them to impiety or rebellion, Daniel 11:32. Syriac ܚܰܢܳܦܐܳ unclean, a gentile, ܙܚܰܢܦܶ to turn aside from the true religion. Hence

חָנֵף profane, impious, i.q. Arab. كَافُِر Job 8:13, 13:16 15:34 17:8, etc. LXX. ἀσεβής, ἄνομος, παράνομος, twice ὑποκριτής.
