II. רְמִיָּה noun feminine laxness, slackness; — always absolute ׳ר; — ׳כַּף ר Proverbs 10:4 slack (negligent, idle) hand (opposed to יַד חָרוּצִים); ׳ר alone = slackness (abstract for concrete = one who is slack) Proverbs 12:24 ("" id.), Proverbs 12:27 (see חרך); ׳נֶפֶשׁ ר Proverbs 19:15 ("" עַצְלָה); as adverb עשֶֹׁהרְמִיָּה ׳מְלֶאכֶת י Jeremiah 48:10.
רְמִיָּה f. (from the root רָמָה Pi.)
(1) a letting down or relaxing of the hands, indolence. (This notion of the root nearly approaches to the cogn. רָפָה. Arab. رمى VIII. to be slack, and remiss, spoken of any affair.) Proverbs 12:24. כַּף רְמִיָּה a remiss hand, idle, Proverbs 10:4. Adv. negligently, Jeremiah 48:10.
(2) deception, fraud, Job 13:7. לְשׁוֹן רְמִיָּת a fraudulent tongue, Psalms 120:2, Psalms 120:3. קֶשֶׁת רְמִיָּה a deceitful bow, one which shoots untruly, Hosea 7:16 poet. deceptive archers, who deceive by a false flight, Psalms 78:57.
