Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

פּוּק to move to and fro, Isaiah 28:7. Not found in the cognate languages, but it is of the same stock as wanken, with a sibilant prefixed fchwanken (ant. wagen); with a diminut. vacillo, wackeln. Comp. פּוּךְ.

Hiphil, id., Jeremiah 10:4, וְלֹא יָפִיק “and it moveth not.” So it is commonly taken. But perhaps it ought rather to be taken causatively, “he causes it not to move.”

Derivatives פּוּקָה, פִּיק.

II.

פּוּק to go out, i.q. Chald. נְפַק.

Hiphil

(1) to give out to furnish, Psalms 144:13; Isaiah 58:10.

(2) to cause to come forth from any one, i.e. to get or obtain from him, Proverbs 3:13, 12:2 8:35 18:22. LXX. λαμβάνω.

(3) to bring to an end, to let succeed, Psalms 140:9.
