(1) the heel
(a) of men, Genesis 3:15; Psalms 56:7; Job 18:9; Jeremiah 13:22; Song of Solomon 1:8.
(b) of horses, the hoof, Genesis 49:17; Judges 5:22.
(2) metaph. the extreme rear of an army, Joshua 8:13; Genesis 49:19.
(3) plur. עִקְּבֹות prints (of the heel or foot), Psalms 77:20, 89:52 (compare Song of Solomon 1:8).
