Qal Perfect 3 masculine singular נָעַל 2 Samuel 13:18, נָעָ֑ל Judges 3:23; Imperative נְעֹל 2 Samuel 13:17; Passive participle נָעוּל Song of Solomon 4:12 (twice in verse); feminine plural נְעֻלוֺת Judges 3:24; — Baruch , bolt, lock, usually with accusative דֶּלֶת, ׃דְּלָתוֺת Judges 3:23, + אַחֲרֵי after, behind, Judges 3:24; 2 Samuel 13:17,18; elsewhere only גַּן נָעוּל Song of Solomon 4:12 a garden barred (figurative of Shulamite), so also Song of Solomon 4:12 b (reading גַּן for גַּל, Vrss Gr Bu).
[נָעַל] verb denominative furnish with sandals, shoe (ᵑ7נְעַל (rare), bind on sandal; Arabic furnish with sandals, shoe horse or camel; Syriac shoe horse); —
Qal Imperfect 1 singular suffix וָאֶנְעֲלֵךְתָּ֑חַשׁ Ezekiel 16:10 and I shod thee with תחשׁ (q. v.).
Hiph`il Imperfect 3 masculine plural suffix וַיַּנְעִלוּם 2 Chronicles 28:15 and gave them sandals.
נָעַל
(1) to bolt a door, to fasten with a bolt; with an acc. 2 Samuel 13:17, 18 2 Samuel 13:18; Judges 3:23, 24 Judges 3:24.
(2) to shoe, to put on sandals, Arab. نعل (which is done by binding round the foot with straps, and as it were bolting it). Followed by two acc. Ezekiel 16:10. וָאֶנְעֲלֵךְ תַּחַשׁ “I shod thee with seal skin.”
