A green branch still contains water allowing the branch to be flexible. A green branch can then be bent to the desired shape and left to dry.

מוֹטָה f.

(1) i.q. מוֹט No. 2, a bar, staff, 1 Chronicles 15:15. מֹטוֹת הָעֹל bars of a yoke, Leviticus 26:13; Ezekiel 34:27, a bent piece of wood put round the neck of a bull, with the two ends fastened to a wooden yoke.

(2) a yoke itself, Jeremiah 27:2, 28:10, 12 Jeremiah 28:12; Ezekiel 30:18. Metaph. Isaiah 58:6, Isaiah 58:9.
