Niph`al Perfect נִטְמִינוּ we are stopped up, stupid Job 18:3 so Thes MV Di De Zö (Aramaic טַמֵּם, טַמְטֵם stop up (e.g. of ear or heart), , etc., and derivatives; Arabic fill or choke up); ᵑ9 Ew Hengst AV RV Da SS take it as metaplastic for נִטְמֵאנוּ we are regarded as unclean, see Ew§ 198 b Kö i, 614; ᵐ5 reads נִדְמִינוּ σεσιωπήκαμεν; ᵑ7טְמַעֲנָא.
טָמָה i.q. טָמֵא; at least some of the forms of this verb follow the analogy of verbs לה֞. So
Niphal נִטְמֵתֶם Leviticus 11:43, and Job 18:3, נִטְמִינוּ בְּעֵינֵכֶם “we are unclean in your eyes,” i.e. impious, compare Job 14:4. Some, however, of the Hebrew interpreters, without violence to the parallelism, take טָמָה to be the same as טְמַם, אָטַם to be stopped up, i.e. to be stupid. Vulg. sorduimus.
