(1) to thrust, to push (Ch. הֲדַף id.; comp. דָּפָה, דָּפַק), Numbers 35:20, 22 Numbers 35:22; Ezekiel 34:21. Job 18:18, יֶהְדְּפֻהוּ מֵאֹור אֶל־חשֶׁךְ “they shall thrust him from light into darkness;” hence, to thrust down, to prostrate (umftoßen), Jeremiah 46:15.
(2) to repel, to thrust away (zurückftoßen), 2 Kings 4:27; Proverbs 10:3.
(3) to expel (verftoßen, ausftoßen), Deuteronomy 6:19, 9:4 Joshua 23:5.
