1094) be (הב HB) AC: Give CO: Gift AB: Love: The pictograph e represents one who is looking at a great sight with his hands raised as when saying behold. The b is a representation of the tent or house. Combined these pictures mean "look toward the house" or "provide for the family". One does not choose the household which one is born into, including tribe, parents, children and wife (as marriages were often arranged by the father) , it is a gift from God. These gifts are seen as a privilege and are to be cherished and protected. (eng: have - as given)

יָהַב in Hebrew a rare and defective root; of frequent use in Chaldee, Syriac, Arabic, and Ethiopic (יְהַב, ܝܰܗ̱ܒ, وهب, ወሀበ፡) i.q. נָתַן to give, to place, once in pret. Psalms 55:23, הַשְׁלֵךְ עַל־יְהֹוָה יְהָֽבְךָ “commit to God (that which) he has given thee (or) laid on thee,” i.e. thy lot, for אֲשֶׁר יָהַב לְךָ. The person to whom anything is given is often expressed by the pronoun suffixed to the verb; see נְתַתָּנִי Joshua 15:19 compare Arab. اعطى, ناول and so وهب with two acc. of peps. and thing, although this construction is not sanctioned by grammarians. (Others take יְהָב in this place as a subst. burden, grief.)
Found besides only in imper. הַב (Proverbs 30:15); often with ה parag. הָבָח f. הָבִי (Ruth 3:15) pl. הָבוּ
(1) give, give here. Genesis 29:21; Job 6:22; 2 Samuel 16:20, הָבוּ לָכֶם עֵצָה “give counsel!”
(2) place, put, set. 2 Samuel 11:15; Deuteronomy 1:13, הָבוּ לָכֶם אֲנָשִׁים “set for yourselves men.” Joshua 18:4.
(3) adv. of exhorting, come! come on! come now, go to. Genesis 11:3, Genesis 11:4, Genesis 11:7, 38:16 Exodus 1:10. (Arab. هَبْ give, grant.)-As to הֵבוּ Hosea 4:18, see Analyt. Ind.
