2. τ. φρενῶν quickness of temper, hastiness, E. Ba. 670; ὁ χρόνος μάθησιν ἀντὶ τοῦ τάχους.. δίδωσι Id. Supp. 419; f.l. in Pl. Lg. 944c; τ. τῆς ψυχῆς quickness of apprehension, ib. 689c.

II τάχος is freq. used in Adverbial phrases for ταχέως, abs. in acc., A. Th. 58, Ag. 945, Eu. 124, E. Rh. 986, HF 860 (troch.), etc.; also in dat., τάχει ὁμοίως with like velocities, Pl. Ti. 36d: with Preps., διὰ τάχους S. Aj. 822, Th. 1.63, etc.; ἐν τάχει Pi. N. 5.35, A. Pr. 747, S. OC 500, Th. 1.86, PCair.Zen. 62 (b). 10 (iii B.C.), etc.; εἰς τάχος X. Eq. 3.5, Ar. Ach. 686, etc.; κατὰ τάχος Hdt. 1.124, 152, Th. 1.73; κατὰ τὸ τ. PCair.Zen. 130.11 (iii B.C.); τὸ τ. (without κατὰ) ib. 158.2, 166.4, 428.15, PHib. 1.62.13 (all iii B.C.). etc.; μετὰ τάχους Pl. Syll.3 528.10 (B.C. 221–19) πλείους ἐκ τ [ῶν ] τραυμάτων ἀρωστίαις. . . π [εριπε ]σεῖν. In the NT the word is found only in Luke 10:34 (elsewhere πληγή is employed) : see Hobart, p. 28.
