I. Act., to place beside, set before, c. acc et dat.: of food, Mark 6:41; Mark 8:6-7, Luke 9:16; Luke 11:6; τράπεζαν , Acts 16:34; pass. ptcp., Luke 10:8, 1 Corinthians 10:27; metaph., of teaching, παραβολήν , Matthew 13:24; Matthew 13:31.
II. Mid.,
1. to have set before one (Hom., Thuc., Xen., al.).
2. to deposit with another, give in charge or commit to (Hdt., Xen., Polyb., al.) : c. acc et dat., Luke 12:48; Luke 23:46, Acts 14:23; Acts 20:32, 1 Timothy 1:18, 2 Timothy 2:2, 1 Peter 4:19.
3. to bring forward, quote as evidence: seq. ὅτι , Acts 17:3 (v. Page, in l).†

P Amh II. 149.5 (vi/A.D.) πέραν τῆς Ὀξυρυγχ (ιτῶν) πόλεως, ";opposite the city of Oxyrhynchus."; For τὸ πέραν, ";the region beyond,"; as in Matthew 8:18; Matthew 8:28. al., cf. BGU IV. 1061.4 (B.C. 14) ἐκ Σιναρὺ τοῦ πέραν, and ib. 1022.25 (A.D. 196) εἰς τὸ πε ̣ρ ̣αν. The form πέρα is found in P Leid Wvii. 25 (ii/iii A.D.) (= II. p. 103) διαπεράσεις τὸ πέρα, ";you will cross to the other side,"; and P Oxy I. 117.9 (ii/iii A.D.) τοῦ ἄντα καὶ. . . τοῦ πέρα, ";of the near and the far (vineyard).";
