εὐλαβέομαι, εὐλαβοῦμαι: 1 aorist participle εὐλαβηθείς; properly, "to show oneself εὐλαβής," i. e.:
1. to act cautiously, circumspectly (Tragg., Xenophon, Plato, and following).
2. to beware, fear: as in 1 Macc. 3:30 1 Macc. 12:40 (Alex. etc.) and often in secular authors, followed by μή lest (Buttmann, 241f (208)), Acts 23:10 R G (Deuteronomy 2:4; 1 Samuel 18:29; Job 13:25; Jeremiah 5:22; Daniel 4:2; 2 Macc. 8:16; Sir. 41:3).
3. to reverence, stand in awe of (τόν Θεόν, Plato, legg. 9, p. 879e.; the Sept. Proverbs 2:8; Proverbs 24:28

P Par 45.7 (B.C. 153) εὐλαβοῦμαι τὸν ἐνδίκτην τὰ πλῖστα, BGU IV. 1116.42 (B.C. 13) κ ̣α ̣ι ̣̣ μ ̣η ̣δ ̣ε ̣, ν ̣ τὴν Ἀντωνίαν Φιλημάτιο (ν) εὐλαβ (εῖσθαι), and the Christian P Fay 136.4 (iv/A.D.) ὅθεν μηδένα εὐλαβούμενοι μᾶλλον ἀπαντήσατε ἀπ᾽ ἑαυτῶν πρὸ τοῦ τις ὑμᾶς ἐνέγκῃ, ";therefore heed no one rather than me and return from where you are before some one fetches you"; (Edd.). See also the letter Preisigke 4050.13 εὐλαβήθητι μήπως μὴ καταλάβουσίν σε ἐν [Ἀ ]λεξανδρείᾳ, where the construction may be compared with Acts 23:10 HLP. The active, which does not occur in the NT, is found in BGU II, 665ii. 4 (i/A.D.) ὅπως σε παρακαλέσῃ [ε ]ὐλαβεῖν αὐτήν.
