Vocabulary of the Greek NT
For this poetic adj. (but see 3 Maccabees 5:5 and Æsop. 110 ed. Halm), which is used adverbially in its only occurrence in the NT (Mark 1:35 ἔννυχα אBCD al.), Herwerden (Lex. s.v.) cites a metrical inscr. of v/A.D., IG VII. 584.5 ὅταν σε λάβῃ ἔννυχος ἠώς.
