ἐλαύνω is found in the illiterate P Fay III.10 (A.D. 95–6) λέγον (l. ων) ὥτι (l. ὅτι) σὺ εἴρηχας πεζῶι [τὰ χ ]υρίδια ἐλάσαι, ";saying that you had told him to drive the pigs on foot"; For ships ";driven"; by the wind, as James 3:4, cf. Preisigke 997 (iv/A.D.) ἥκω εἰς τὸν τόπον ἀπὸ Συένης καταπλέων ὑπὸ χειμῶνος ἐλασθείς, where note the late form of the aor. pass. The verb is used in connexion with horses in Wünsch AF 4.60 (iii/A.D.) οἱ ἵπποι οὓς μέλλουσιν ἐλαύνειν.
