1. depart, ἐκ χώρας SIG 679.53; leave a country, emigrate, Hdt. 1.56, Hecat. 30J.; withdraw, ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας PAmh. 2.30.44 (ii B.C.), etc.: metaph., ἐ. ἐκ τοῦ ζῆν Plb. 2.21.2: so abs., Id. 7.2.1.
2. slip out of, ἀστράγαλος ἐξεχώρησε ἐκ τῶν ἄρθρων Hdt. 3.129.

ἐκχωρέω is used absolutely, as in Luke 21:21, in P Lond 106.16 (B.C. 261 or 223) (= I. p. 61) ἐμοῦ δὲ οὐκ ἐκχωροῦντος. Other exx. of the verb are P Magd 20.7 (B.C. 221) δέομαι. . . ἐπαναγκάσαι αὐτοὺς ἐκχωρῆσαι τῆς οἰκίας, P Amh II. 30.42 (ii/B.C.) παρηγγείλαμεν τῆι Θεμβῶτος ἐκχωρεῖν ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας, and P Tebt II. 310.3 (A.D. 186) ὁμολοκῶ ἐκχωρῆ ̣σ ̣ε ̣ (l. ὁμολογῶ ἐκχωρῆσαι) τῷ πλήθι τῶν ἱερέων ὥσα (l. ὅσα) ἔχω ἔτη τῆς μιᾶς ἡμίσους ἀρούρης ἱερευτικῆς, ";I acknowledge that I have surrendered to the corporation of priests for my term of years the 1½ arourae of temple land"; (Edd.). The verb is used transitively in BGU I. 96.18 (2nd half iii/A.D.) ἐκκεχωρη κ [έ ]ναι αὐτοὺς αὐτὸν τῷ Μάρωνι κυριευτικῶς. Cf. MGr ξεχωρίζω ";separate,"; ";pick out.";
