I begotten, υἱὸς γ., opp. ποιητός, Pl. Lg. 923e; mortal, Luc. Icar. 2; γεννητοὶ γυναικῶν born of women, Matthew 11:11, Luke 7:28.

II generable, opp. φθαρτός, Arist. Metaph. 1027a29 (v. l.); ὑλὴ γ. matter for generation, ib. 1042b6. Adv. -τῶς by means of generation, Iamb. Myst. 1.18.

Thayer's Expanded Definition

γεννητός, γεννητη, γεννητον (γεννάω), begotten, born (often in Plato; Diodorus 1, 6ff); after the Hebrew (אִשָּׁה יְלוּד, Job 14:1, etc.), γεννητοι γυναικῶν (Buttmann, 169 (147), born of women) is a periphrasis for men, with the implied idea of weakness and frailty: Matthew 11:11; Luke 7:28.
