Verse 1
seventh month. Hebrew name Tisri not known in Scripture (our Sept. - Oct.) The old civil year went out (Exodus 23:16 ; Exodus 34:22 ), known as Ethanim (1 Kings 8:2 ). Tisri = the first month of civil year. Nisan, or Abib = the first month of sacred year.
servile = laborious.
blowing the trumpets. Compare Leviticus 23:24 .

A several tenth. Hebrew "a tenth, a tenth" = a tenth severally, i.e. to each
the sin offering of atonement. This was the great offering of the day of atonement. Leviticus 16:0 .

fifteenth day. The Feast of Tabernacles.
the seventh month. Some codices, with Samaritan Pentateuch, Septuagint, Syriac, and Vulgate, read "this month".
Verse 15
a several tenth. As in Numbers 29:10 , but the second word "tenth" has the extraordinary points ( App-31 ) omitting the word, making it like Numbers 29:4 , instead of like Numbers 29:10 .

his meat offering = the meal offering thereof. Some codices, with Samaritan Pentateuch, Septuagint, Syriac, and Vulgate, read "and the", or "and his".
