Simplified Cowboy Version

1 Timothy 4

1 Now the Holy Ghost has warned us. Later on, people will forsake the brand of God and follow the ways of demons instead. 2 Their teaching will come from liars who will adhere to a double standard. Their consciences will be like ash from a fire. 3 They will tell people who they can and cannot marry and convince people not to eat certain foods. Food comes from God so that we can give thanks. We who know the truth know who to believe. 4 Nothing is to be rejected if God made it and a man is thankful for the full belly. 5 God's word and a cowboy's prayer can make anything holy.

6 If you teach a cowboy the truth, you will be a good cowboy on God's outfit. A cowboy is built and made on a diet of truth, faith, and the right way to ride. 7 Don't pay any attention to old wives' tales and campfire stories that come from human lips, rather, train yourselves to ride like God wants you to. 8 Being a tough cowboy is good, but doing things God's way is even better. Godliness has great benefit here on earth and in the eternal life to come. 9 You can believe what I say. 10 That's why we saddle up every day and ride out to spread the good news. We have faith and hope in the promises of God. He is the one who will save us all, and most importantly, those who ride for the brand.

11 These are the things I want you to teach and tell people. 12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young. Prove them wrong by the way you speak, act, love, and the way you prove your ride is truth. 13 Until I see you again, tell people what the Good Book says. Don't ever shy away from preaching or teaching. 14 Don't give up using the gift God gave you. This gift was revealed when the wagon bosses prayed over you and put their hands on you.

15 Don't throw a leg over the saddle horn like you've accomplished your task already. Keep both feet in the stirrups and always ready to tell someone about Jesus. People will take notice that you never give in and you never give up. 16 Practice what you preach. Never turn loose of your faith. If you stay tied on to Jesus, you will save yourself and those who hear your words about the grace of God.
