Simplified Cowboy Version
1 Timothy 5
1 Don't jump all over an older cowboy who rides with you. Treat him as you would your own dad. Treat young men in your outfit like you would a brother.
2 Treat older women like your mother and younger cowgirls the same as your little sister. Help keep these young women pure.3 If a widow needs a hand, be the first to offer it.
4 But don't step in to help if her family should be doing it. If they ride for the brand, let them take care of their own, tell them to do this. This is how they should honor their mothers and fathers. And plus, God likes it too. 5 If a widow truly is all by herself, I guarantee you she's relying on God to give her a hand. She's been praying every single day and every single night for help. 6 But keep a wary eye out for widows who don't really need help, but get the attention they desire with tearful sob stories. A woman who'd do that is dead already. 7 Teach people how to tell the real difference in the two. 8 Any real cowboy doesn't have to be told to take care of his family. If he doesn't, he ain't a real cowboy and is worse than an unbeliever in God's eyes.9 Keep a list of the widows in need, but they need to be over sixty. They also must have been a faithful wife to their husband.
10 She must also be well respected around the area. This respect should come from her previously being a good momma, feeding hungry cowboys passing through, cleaning up those who need help, lending a hand to those who are sick, and never tiring of doing good things.11 If a young woman's husband dies, don't automatically offer her help. She'll eventually want to find another husband and her carnal desires will replace her faith.
12 They'll soon be doing things those of the faith shouldn't do. 13 They'll start gossiping, being lazy, and expecting everyone else to do what they should be doing themselves. Don't enable them by doing everything for them. 14 If there is a young widow, I encourage them to find a new husband, but do it the right way. She should have children, take care of their home, and not give in to idle talk about others. These latter things just open the door to the devil to come in. 15 I know many who have quit God's outfit and traded eternity for riding for the devil.16 If any cowgirl in the outfit has been caring for a young widow, she should continue to do so. Don't let her pass the buck to y'all. Let God's outfit care for those who really need it.
17 The cow bosses who run the outfit in a respectable manner should be treated with double respect.
18 The Good Book says, "Don't keep the draft horse from getting a bite of hay while he is pulling the swather," and "The cowboy who works deserves his pay." 19 Don't listen to someone griping about a cow boss unless they have two or three witnesses. 20 But if a cow boss slips into sin, don't just correct him in private. Let everyone know you've dealt with it. That way, others will know you mean business and you don't play favorites. 21 I'm holding you accountable in front of God and everyone else to do what I've told you to do. Like I said, don't play favorites. Everyone must carry their own load and do what God tells them to do.22 Don't hesitate to pray for people and lay your hands on them, but don't do what sinners do either. Keep yourself free from sin.
23 I know your stomach causes you problems. Don't just drink water, but try a little wine and see if that helps.
24 Some people's sins are as plain as the nose on their face, but others are not.
25 But the same goes for good deeds. Some are real obvious, but even those nobody knows about will not go unnoticed forever.Simplified Cowboy Version
